In June, Éamonn-Joeín went to Gros Morne, Newfoundland to act as a teacher assistant (TA) for an undergraduate field course at MUN on estuarine/coastal fish ecology. The field course lasted two weeks and took place at Bonne Bay Marine Station and the beautiful surrounding areas. Much of the work involved conducting beach seines from the shore and boat, and then IDing and counting all the fish species caught within the nets. This was to demonstrate the effect that different habitats and factors have on the diversity of fish species within the local area. Some of the other teaching exercises included visiting a salmon counting fence and observing electrofishing.
